Catch up on the last month of Unique with key Quartz updates (and listing!), a “dreamy” new partnership, and our NFT workshop at ETH Denver!

Hello, Unique Network!

A mere month into 2022, February was jam-packed with excitement and activity here at Unique. Here’s what happened in our neck of the blockchain!

Quartz Gets Updates!

Everyone’s favorite Kusama parachain had a busy month. We alerted the Quartz token holder community that following the initial QTZ allocation of 8% (and 3% actual distribution) our team has decided to lock the Quarz token balance at 5% into the treasury for seven years—a  decision made with long-term community and platform growth in mind.

We also shared that our marketplace, Unqnft.io, will be migrated to Quartz mainnet, a process which began with the shutdown of the current marketplace earlier in the week, 1st March. The marketplace shutdown was timed with our latest rewards snapshot for Quartz token holders. Similar to our previous rewards distribution, Chelobricks and Substrapunks holders were required to have their NFTs in the wallet that they wanted them to remain in for the upcoming rewards snapshot, which will occur after our marketplace officially goes live on Quartz.

In parallel with the beta deployment of UniqueMinter and UniqueScan, our testnet Opal also went live last month. In our Quartz update blog post, we shared that Opal has experienced some downtime and detailed our plans to implement improvements.

MEXC Listing

On 8th February, Quartz was officially listed on the MEXC global centralised exchange headquartered in Singapore. Our collaboration with MEXC will help elevate the awareness of Quartz and Unique Network’s mission to build next-generation NFT use cases. To help kick off this collaboration, we also participated in MEXC’s Kickstarter and DeFi Mining Event. Find more info on the MEXC listing and rewards distribution rollout on the blog

Unique Partnered with Carbon-Neutral DAO, the Dream Conduit

Our latest partnership is one with sustainability and creator empowerment at the forefront. We shared plans to work with carbon-neutral DAO and educational platform, the Dream Conduit, for a sustainability-focused partnership to educate the blockchain community of creators, developers, NFT entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts. In our full announcement blog post on the partnership, we detailed plans to participate in TDC’s regular community events and tap into their four divisions of operation, which span coaching, narrative workshops, curation, and sovereignty. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting and inspiring project in the coming weeks and months.

Our CTO Greg Zaitsev Hosted a Two-Part NFT Workshop at ETH Denver

"We're not going to talk about NFTs today, we're going to make them," — Greg Zaitsev at ETHDenver

On 15th February, our CTO and NFT/web3 veteran Greg Zaitsev hosted an excellent NFT workshop at the beloved industry conference, ETH Denver! The two-part focused on dev and non-devs alike, taking attendees through the A-Z of NFT creation. The response to Greg’s workshop was stellar, and we’d like to extend a big thanks to everyone who joined.

Check out the recording of Greg’s workshop here and we’ll see you next year ETH Denver!

Thanks for reading our February update! March is already off to a big  start with the announcement of the Unique Network Crowdloan on Polkadot, so make sure to stay connected across our socials, so you don’t miss a beat.
